Map Area & Distance Measurer

Click the map to outline a field, roof, plot or lake — the area updates live in m², hectares, acres, km² and mi², with the perimeter alongside. Switch to line mode to measure a path or route length. All math runs on the real curved Earth, in your browser.

Click the map to place the first corner.

Zoom in before placing corners — clicking precision is usually the accuracy limit.

Accuracy notes

Areas use the spherical polygon formula (not a flat projection), so even country-sized outlines stay honest; for parcels under a few km² the result is typically within a fraction of a percent of survey-grade. Your accuracy limit is usually the clicking, not the math — zoom in before placing corners, and remember that satellite imagery can be offset a few meters from true ground positions. For legal boundaries, only a licensed survey counts.

Frequently asked questions

Which units are shown?
Square meters, hectares, acres, km² and mi² simultaneously, plus the perimeter in km/mi — no conversions needed.
How do I measure a route length instead?
Switch to line mode: clicks build a path and the readout shows its total length instead of an area.
Is this accurate enough for land records?
The math is survey-honest, but clicking on imagery is not a survey. Use it for estimates and planning; legal boundaries require a licensed surveyor.
