Halfway Point Finder
Type where everyone is coming from — two people or a whole group of up to eight — and you get the balanced geographic midpoint: its coordinates, the nearest address, towns around it worth meeting in, and how far each person travels. Add coordinates directly and it computes instantly; place names resolve one by one through the geocoder.
Everyone's starting point with the balanced midpoint between them.
How the midpoint is computed
Averaging latitudes and longitudes fails badly over long distances (and hilariously across the date line). This tool converts each point to 3-D vectors on the sphere, averages them, and projects back — the true geographic midpoint, equidistant along great circles for two points and the balance point for three. For a drive-time-fair meeting spot, treat it as the starting search area: roads rarely cooperate exactly.
Meeting in the middle, practically
- The nearest towns list (from our places database) turns an abstract midpoint into somewhere with cafés.
- Share the pin by link or QR from the result — the other person's maps app opens on the exact spot.
- Three-way meetups work too: add the third location and the tool balances all three.
